Training your dog to poop outside
It can be extremely useful if your dog is trained to poo outside the house; saving you hours of grief from having to clean up soil stained carpets or other areas around the home. What can be even more useful is if your dog is trained to poo on command saving you the trouble of finding yourself in the sticky situation of being stood outside on a rainy night at 1am hoping your dog will just relieve itself and let you get back to bed.
The scientist Ivan Pavlov discovered a technique called conditional reflex whereby an individual or in this case a dog could be trained to merely react to a situation using instinct rather than critical thinking. Using this technique we will hopefully teach you a few steps on how to train your dog to poo outside on command.
To begin with, take your dog outside on a leash and wait for a sign that your dog wishes to poo. If your dog starts to sniff the ground or circle the ground then it is giving you an indication that it is thinking about relieving itself. At this point you need to use a set of keyword to command your dog to squat and take a poo. These keywords could be anything along the lines of “go on, take a poo boy” but whatever keyword you decide to use, use a phrase you wouldn’t use in an everyday type of conversation.
Repeatedly use these keywords until your dog starts to do the deed and then once your dog has finished, it’s extremely IMPORTANT that you reward your dog with a pat and a treat such as a doggy biscuit. This conditions the dog into thinking that it can expect a reward when it carries out the same act on command in future.
Repeat this process every day and after a period of time you will find that your dog will learn to poo when you ask it to.
Best of luck
